Seafood 10,000 Times Over Safe Limit for Carcinogenic Contamination, FDA Says to Eat it Anyway

Pin It now!

Despite seafood showing extremely high levels of contamination, the FDA still deems the food safe for consumption. The FDA not only falsely softened the risk of seafood consumption due to carcinogenic contaminants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the seafood supply, but also ignored individual FDA staff members who called for higher levels of contamination protection.

The oil spill into the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 was one of the largest offshore oil spills in history. One recent study conducted by researchers at the Natural Resources Defense Council found that FDA Gulf seafood “safe levels” actually allowed 100 to 10,000 times more carcinogenic PAHs in seafood than what is safe. This move by the FDA is not only only irresponsible for environmental and human safety, but puts those who are more vulnerable at a higher risk, such as pregnant women and children.

FDA Says Yo Don’t Need to Remove Your Overly-Contaminated Seafood

Researchers who conducted the study, which was published in the top peer-reviewed environmental health journal Environmental Health Perspectives, found the information from snatched internal emails and unreleased assessments from the FDA under the Freedom of Information Act. The FDA argues that the reason they downplayed the risk is biased on the side of safety. The director of the FDA has been reported stating “overly conservative estimates would lead you [to] remove a great deal of food from our refrigerators and pantries than is needed”. Seeing as consuming highly contaminated seafood is completely opposite of safe, this kind of response of course suggests that the FDA’s decision had little to do with safety and was likely driven by political factors.

Is the fabric of industrialized society starting to unravel? Highly complex civilizations are more vulnerable to collapse

Pin It now!

This is one of the most important trends you'll see in 2012 and beyond: Global supply lines are breaking down. The just-in-time system of deliveries on tap is deteriorating. Have you noticed how often the products or parts you need are backordered or delayed? That's what I'm talking about.

Try to order 3TB hard drives for data storage. You'll discover they're all back-ordered. When you order items from that are shipped by third party companies, they're often delayed due to sourcing problems. Even our own NaturalNews Store has suffered from sourcing challenges, where customer demand is much higher than the available supply, and the suppliers sometimes can't get us products in a timely manner.

This issue is especially notable across the firearms industry, where record firearm sales have pushed gun manufacturers way beyond their normal capacities. Not only was Black Friday the top day for gun sales in the history of the USA, but I spoke with the owner of a local Austin gun shop just a couple of days ago, and he told me that on the Thursday and Friday before Christmas his shop was completely slammed with customers, and many of the products they wanted were simply out of stock or unavailable.

Something is happening across the planet with all this: Supply lines are getting thin and starting to crack. You've probably noticed it when you're trying to buy car parts or appliance parts. Even many service companies are thinly staffed these days. How long does it take now to get a repair man for your furnace? Or a plumber? Remember when it used to be same-day or next-day service? Now it's often 2-3 days (or even more) before somebody can fix the problem, and even then, they often need parts that have to be ordered.

The complexity of modern society is starting to rupture

All this is a worrisome sign to anyone who understands even a little bit about the complexities of modern society. Even to build something as simple as a water bottle, a manufacturer must be able to depend on a very long and highly complex chain of suppliers who individually specialize in metals, plastics or o-ring manufacturing. Then there's the logo printing which requires yet another supply chain of ink specialists and printing equipment. While a stainless steel water bottle may seem simple, it's actually the culmination of thousands of years of specialized knowledge, processes and equipment.

The Truth About Vitamin D

Pin It now!

Vitamin D has been touted as a magic bullet, protecting against bone fractures, heart disease and even cancer. Now, a government group takes a closer look at the data.

There’s a lot of information out there about vitamin D, and most of it suggests that Americans need more of it. Studies have linked the so-called sunshine vitamin — because it’s synthesized in the body with sun exposure — to a host of health benefits, including lower risk of bone fractures, heart disease, cognitive problems in older adults, asthma and even cancer.

But now, a new review of the data conducted by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), advises tuning out the hype. The government-backed group looked at 19 clinical trials and 28 observational studies and found that vitamin D, in combination with calcium, can indeed help reduce bone fractures, but that as far as cancer and heart disease are concerned, the data just aren’t conclusive enough to suggest that vitamin D supplements have any benefit.

The USPSTF’s review follows a similar review in 2009, conducted by the Institute of Medicine (IOM). That review, which examined the link between vitamin D and 17 health outcomes, culminated in concrete recommendations for how much vitamin D people should get — 600 IUs daily for most Americans. The USPSTF’s review, in contrast, was not designed to make any daily-intake recommendations, but rather to take a more in-depth look at the question of bone fractures and cancer prevention. A separate group also studied whether vitamin D has any benefit for heart disease risk, and both reports are published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Americans Are Fat, And Expected To Get Much Fatter

Pin It now!

In case you haven't noticed, we're fat, and getting fatter.

If Americans stay on this path, 83 percent of men will be overweight or obese by 2020. Women are right behind them, with 72 percent projected to be overweight or obese by then.

The implications go far beyond tight pants and groaning sofas. Obesity is a big risk factor for cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Imagining an America of overweight, unhealthy people gives public health officials the willies. And it should be frightening to us civilians, too.

The latest numbers come from Mark Huffman, an assistant professor of preventive medicine and cardiology at Northwestern University who presented them at the annual scientific meeting of the American Heart Asssociation this week.

He looked at current rates for cardiovascular risk factors including smoking, lack of exercise, diet, weight, blood pressure and cholesterol. He found that reductions in smoking, high cholesterol and high blood pressure since 1988 have been offset by weight gain, diabetes, and pre-diabetes.

Then he took the increases in weight, diabetes, and prediabetes, and predicted where they would go in the next two decades. That's how he came up with more than three-quarters of Americans becoming overweight.

"It's really striking," Huffman told Shots. "It, gosh, it makes you want to figure out solutions."

That's especially true because we aren't exemplars of healthy living right now. Right now, 32 percent of men and 34 percent of women are obese. Those numbers are projected to rise to 43 and 42 percent in 2020, nudging up toward half of all people.

GMO Crops Continually Banned Around the World in Display of Health Freedom

Pin It now!

Colorado’s Boulder County was the latest health freedom hotspot to stand up against Monsanto and genetically modified produce, with Boulder County advisory committees announcing plans to phase out GMO crops on open space in pursuit of sustainable and ethical farming practices. The county joins a long list of other political bodies that have banned, condemned, and even uprooted GMO crops across the globe.

Both the Food and Agriculture Policy Council and the Parks and Open Space Advisory Committee of Boulder Country voted 5-4 to phase out GMOs in an economically viable way. The transition proves that it is possible to be environmentally conscious, preserve the health of citizens, and still maintain economic stability.

Genetically modified corn has been growing on around 16,000 acres of cropland owned by the county for around a decade. In 2009, public concern over the consequences of GMO crops sparked public debate within the county. Citizens demanded that GMO crops be banned after 6 local farmers asked permission to plant sugar beets that were engineered to resist the herbicide Roundup.

Nations Starting to Ban and Uproot GMO Crops

Hungary has gained international recognition for their bold stand against biotech giant Monsanto, destroying all Monsanto corn fields littered with GMO crops. The nation destroyed 1000 acres of maize found to have been grown with genetically modified seeds, which are banned in the country. Many of the farmers were actually shocked to find they were using GMO seeds, which are resulting in extreme environmental consequence.

Peru has also taken a stand for health freedom, passing a monumental 10 year ban on genetically modified foods. Amazingly, Peru’s Plenary Session of the Congress made the decision despite previous governmental pushes for GM legalization. The known and unknown dangers of GMO crops seem to supersede even executive-level governmental directives.

Anibal Huerta, President of Peru’s Agrarian Commission, said the ban was needed to prevent the ”danger that can arise from the use of biotechnology.”

Could Obesity Change The Brain?

Pin It now!

The standard advice for losing weight often comes up short for people who are obese.

If they switch to a healthful diet and exercise more, they might lose a bit. But the pounds have a way of creeping back on.

Now some provocative research suggests that a part of the problem might be that obesity could change the area of the brain that helps control appetite and body weight.

And those changes might start within a day of eating a high-fat meal, according to scientists who are trying to figure out why it's so hard to lose weight. They report seeing changes in the brain after just one day on a fatty diet.

"That was quite a shock," says Michael Schwartz, a professor and director of the Diabetes and Obesity Center of Excellence at the University of Washington. "This might reflect fundamental biological changes in how the brain works that help explain why it's so hard to keep weight off."

14 signs that the collapse of our modern world has already begun

Pin It now!

A lot of people believe the world as we know it is going to end on December 23, 2012. Nonsense, I say. The far more honest answer is that the end of the world as we know it has already begun. And it doesn't mean the end of the world; it means the closing of one era and the birth of a new one. It is a transition between the ages. This particular transition, however, promises to be the most tumultuous and costly transition humankind has ever seen.

But don't wait around for December 2012 to look for the signs. Here are 14 signs that the world as we know it is unraveling right now. We are living through the end of one era and the birth of a new one. In the future, they'll look back and call this all one moment in history, but when you're living through it, it seems to move forward at almost a snail's pace. But make no mistake: We are living through the opening chapters of the end of the world as we know it, and on the other side of all this will emerge a new world that's very different from the one we know today.

1. - Tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis - At first it seemed like a fluke; but now it's a pattern. The weather is becoming increasingly extreme. Over 120 tornadoes recently struck the U.S. Midwest. Texas is on fire and suffering through an extreme drought. And where there aren't fires and droughts, there are floods. This is only the beginning... watch for more freak weather over the next 18 months.

2. - The silence of the bees - Colony Collapse Disorder continues to accelerate across North America. We already know it's being caused in part by chemical pesticides (and possibly worsened by GMOs), but the chemical industry is engaged in a full-on cover-up to deny this truth while the pollinators of our world suffer a devastating population collapse.

Dangers To Our Health: Aspartame, Fluoride, Genetically-Modified Food, Pesticides And Toxic Foods And Drugs

Pin It now!

Today it is becoming increasingly difficult to live an organic lifestyle.

We are literally being bombarded with toxins in what we eat, what we drink and in what we breathe.

There are so many serious health dangers all around us that it is hard to name them all.

Aspartame, fluoride, genetically-modified food, pesticides, high fructose corn syrup, pharmaceutical drugs and toxic vaccines are just a few of the major health dangers that confront us each day that most Americans don't even know about.

As Americans absorb increasingly higher levels of toxic substances each year, diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes are absolutely exploding. The truth is that what you don't know about what is on your grocery store shelves can hurt you.

In the two part video posted below, radio host Alex Jones breaks down many of the dangers that we are now facing.

What Alex Jones has to say in these videos will have your jaw on the floor...

Polysorbate 80 In Swine Flu Vaccines = Infertility In Humans

Pin It now!

Would you feel comfortable being injected with a vaccine that contains a substance that has been strongly linked to infertility? Well, if you take the Fluarix swine flu vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline or any of the other swine flu vaccines that contain Polysorbate 80 that is exactly what you will be doing. If you are considering getting the swine flu vaccine, or any other vaccine for that matter, perhaps you should educate yourself about EXACTLY what is in these vaccines before you allow them to be injected into your body.

Perhaps you think that linking the swine flu vaccine with infertility is quite a stretch. Well, let's take this one step at a time.

1) Polysorbate 80 is in the Fluarix swine flu vaccine manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline according to the CDC. This is confirmed by the CDC in the document below...

2) A medical study done in Slovakia injected newborn female rats with Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80). These newborn female rats were injected with Polysorbate 80 at days 4 to 7 after birth. The researchers found that Polysorbate 80 accelerated the maturation of the female rats, damaged the vagina and womb lining, caused significant hormonal changes, severe ovary deformities and ultimately rendered the young female rats infertile.

In fact, Dee Nicholson, the National Communications Director for Freedom in Canadian Health Care is not shy about saying that Polysorbate 80 is "linked to infertility in mice".

How to Control People

Pin It now!

Is familiar to you?

You feel like being one of the handle?

Seizing control over a person isn’t easy, but is fully possible and at times necessary to complete tasks that require the focus of more than one person. Many people like to be given purpose and when controlling people is done with tact and resourcefulness, most people will not mind being used and will offer their services to those who can put them to good use freely. Knowing how to control others can be the difference between a stress filled situation and a stress-free situation. Read on to learn how to control people.

1)Use authoritative tone when speaking. This may not always mean a bossy tone of voice so much as one that is full of confidence. When you sound like you know what you are talking about people will be less apprehensive and less likely to ask questions that may stunt progress.

Take this HAARP and Shove it

Pin It now!

Officially, HAARP is a research station directed by the Air Force Research Laboratory's Space Vehicles Directorate in Gokona, Alaska, that opened in 1992 to gather data about the atmosphere and "radio propagation conditions." Their web site ( states that they are monitoring and archiving the naturally occurring variations with the sun's activities such as sunspots and solar flares.

HAARP constitutes a system of powerful antennas capable of creating "controlled local modifications of the ionosphere." However, there seems to be much more going on behind HAARP's public face.

HAARP is based on physicist Bernard J. Eastlund's U.S. Patent from 1987 titled "Method and Apparatus for Altering a Region in the Earth's Atmosphere, Ionosphere, and/or Magnetosphere" (US #4,686,605). Eastlund's patent is based, in part, on the works of Nikola Tesla, who first suggested that RF could transmit approximately one watt per cubic centimeter to any point on the planet without the use of wires. Thus, power can generated on the ground and then sent through the air to the upper areas of the atmosphere miles above the surface of the planet.

Eastlund explained in his patent application that by influencing the ionosphere, methods of communication disruption, missile shielding and weather modification are possible. His second patent described the reflection of a second signal, using a previously "heated" ionospheric bulge, to distant locations on the Earth's surface.

Eastlund had been working with the Atlantic Richfield Company, holders of a massive reserve of natural gas under Alaska's North Slope. ARCO bought Eastlund's first two patents with the understanding that this new technology would make it possible for their natural gas reserves, too expensive to be piped from Alaska, to be converted to electrical energy on the north slope, and then bounced off the heated ionosphere to customers in remote locations around the globe.

Because Eastlund's "heaters" could elevate the Earth's ionosphere, his discovery provided the ability to control weather by altering upper atmosphere wind patterns. This is done by focusing high frequency radio transmissions on the ionosphere, lifting and heating it in localized areas which then alters wind patterns and ultimately weather conditions.

Unfortunately, the military had purchased Eastlund's two patents from ARCO and had given them to Raytheon, a military contractor. So there would be no civilian use for this new technology.

Today, HAARP has 48 antennas that can broadcast up to 960 kW of power, and plans to expand to 180 antennas and 3.6 megawatts of power by 2006. Even that is short of the thousands of antennas and hundreds of megawatts of power that Eastlund figures would be needed to control the weather or act as an effective missile shield. However, even at 3.6 megawatts, significant weather control experiments could be performed.

In fact, radio operators who routinely monitor HAARP transmissions have noted an increase in RF output from the station right before hurricanes Katrina and Rita grew into dangerous storms. Though there is no proof that the ferocity of these recent hurricanes are the result of climatic tampering by the HAARP administration, Phillips Geophysics Lab, which is a partner in the HAARP project, contemplates the triggering of storms and hurricanes for military use in a course for military personnel at MD's Hanscom Air Force Base, on weather modification techniques.

Even if the HAARP program is experimenting with weather control, ground-based weather control could soon be surpassed by theoretical solar powered satellite-based systems with a possible power output of 1,000 megawatts. NASA, and the European Space Agency has been researching the possibility of such satellites being used as an energy source, transmitting power to Earth with concentrated beams of microwaves. With a fleet of these powerful satellites using the same RF principals used by HAARP, it is conceivable that the weather over any geographic location could be modified at will.

What is a GMO?

Pin It now!

The GE Process

What is a GMO?

A GMO (genetically modified organism) is the result of a laboratory process where genes from the DNA of one species are extracted and artificially forced into the genes of an unrelated plant or animal. The foreign genes may come from bacteria, viruses, insects, animals or even humans. Because this involves the transfer of genes, GMOs are also known as “transgenic” organisms.

This process may be called either Genetic Engineering (GE) or Genetic Modification (GM); they are one and the same.

What is a gene?

Every plant and animal is made of cells, each of which has a center called a nucleus. Inside every nucleus there are strings of DNA, half of which is normally inherited from the mother and half from the father. Short sequences of DNA are called genes. These genes operate in complex networks that are finely regulated to enable the processes of living organisms to happen in the right place and at the right time.

How is genetic engineering done?

Because living organisms have natural barriers to protect themselves against the introduction of DNA from a different species, genetic engineers must force the DNA from one organism into another. Their methods include:

*Using viruses or bacteria to "infect" animal or plant cells with the new DNA.
*Coating DNA onto tiny metal pellets, and firing it with a special gun into the cells.
*Injecting the new DNA into fertilized eggs with a very fine needle.
*Using electric shocks to create holes in the membrane covering sperm, and then forcing the new DNA into the sperm through these holes.

Is genetic engineering precise?

The technology of genetic engineering is currently very crude. It is not possible to insert a new gene with any accuracy, and the transfer of new genes can disrupt the finely controlled network of DNA in an organism.

ALL the Vaccines Are Contaminated - Every Last One of Them

Nuclear Fission Confirmed as Source of More than Half of Earth’s Heat

Pin It now!

Nuclear fission powers the movement of Earth’s continents and crust, a consortium of physicists and other scientists is now reporting, confirming long-standing thinking on this topic. Using neutrino detectors in Japan and Italy—the Kamioka Liquid-Scintillator Antineutrino Detector (KamLAND) and the Borexino Detector—the scientists arrived at their conclusion by measuring the flow of the antithesis of these neutral particles as they emanate from our planet. Their results are detailed July 17 in Nature Geoscience. (Scientific American is part of the Nature Publishing Group.)

Neutrinos and antineutrinos, which travel through mass and space freely due to their lack of charge and other properties, are released by radioactive materials as they decay. And Earth is chock full of such radioactive elements—primarily uranium, thorium and potassium. Over the billions of years of Earth’s existence, the radioactive isotopes have been splitting, releasing energy as well as these antineutrinos—just like in a man-made nuclear reactor. That energy heats the surrounding rock and keeps the elemental forces of plate tectonics in motion. By measuring the antineutrino emissions, scientists can determine how much of Earth’s heat results from this radioactive decay.

Most people grow up thinking that the world is very big and we believe the world exists the way it does today because this is the direction humanity has taken and chosen.

The road that we are taking as a nation in America and as a human race on the planet Earth is being paved for us in advance and sold to us for a profit.

America's Deadliest Pills

Pin It now!

For the first time in nearly a century, automobile accidents are no longer the nation's leading cause of accidental deaths, according to a major report released yesterday by the National Center for Health Statistics. The new number one killer is drugs -- not smack, crystal meth or any other stepped-on menace sold in urban alleyways or trailer parks, but bright, shiny pills prescribed by doctors, approved by the government, manufactured by pharmaceutical companies and sold to the consumer as "medicine." Yet of the billions of legit pills Americans pop every year for medical conditions serious and otherwise, the vast majority of lives are claimed by only a select few classes -- painkillers, sedatives and stimulants -- that all share a common characteristic: they promote abuse, dependence and addiction.

"This is just the tip of the iceberg of the prescription drug abuse problem," says Dr. Margaret Warner, the federal report's lead author. "The take-home here is, this should be a wake-up call." Some 41,000 Americans died from what the report refers to as "poisonings" in 2008, compared with 38,000 traffic deaths. That tally marks a 90 percent increase in poisonings and a 15 percent decrease in car accidents since 1999.

Nearly nine out of ten of those poisonings were caused by prescription drug overdoses, with the chief culprit being opiate-based pain relievers such as Vicodin (hydrocodone), OxyContin and Percocet (oxycodone), codeine, morphine -- and let's not forget Actiq (fentanyl), the infamous berry-flavored lollipop that is 100 times stronger than morphine and -- like most opiate analgesics -- so overprescribed that only about 10 percent of its sales come from its original indication to treat cancer pain.

Fukushima radiation taints US milk supplies at levels 2000 percent higher than EPA maximums

Pin It now!

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to release new data showing that various milk and water supply samples from across the US are testing increasingly high for radioactive elements such as Iodine-131, Cesium-134, and Cesium-137, all of which are being emitted from the ongoing Fukushima Daiichia nuclear fallout. As of April 10, 2011, 23 US water supplies have tested positive for radioactive Iodine-131 (, and worst of all, milk samples from at least three US locations have tested positive for Iodine-131 at levels exceeding EPA maximum containment levels (MCL) (, and in once case more than 2000 percent higher than MCL, cumulatively.

As far as the water supplies are concerned, it is important to note that the EPA is only testing for radioactive Iodine-131. There are no readings or data available for cesium, uranium, or plutonium -- all of which are being continuously emitted from Fukushima, as far as we know -- even though these elements are all much more deadly than Iodine-131. Even so, the following water supplies have thus far tested positive for Iodine-131, with the dates they were collected in parenthesis to the right:

Los Angeles, Calif. - 0.39 pCi/l (4/4/11)
Philadelphia (Baxter), Penn. - 0.46 pCi/l (4/4/11)
Philadelphia (Belmont), Penn. - 1.3 pCi/l (4/4/11)
Philadelphia (Queen), Penn. - 2.2 pCi/l (4/4/11)
Muscle Shoals, Al. - 0.16 pCi/l (3/31/11)
Niagara Falls, NY - 0.14 pCi/l (3/31/11)
Denver, Colo. - 0.17 pCi/l (3/31/11)
Detroit, Mich. - 0.28 pCi/l (3/31/11)
East Liverpool, Oh. - 0.42 pCi/l (3/30/11)
Trenton, NJ - 0.38 pCi/l (3/29/11)
Painesville, Oh. - 0.43 pCi/l (3/29/11)
Columbia, Penn. - 0.20 pCi/l (3/29/11)
Oak Ridge (4442), Tenn. - 0.28 pCi/l (3/29/11)
Oak Ridge (772), Tenn. - 0.20 pCi/l (3/29/11)
Oak Ridge (360), Tenn. - 0.18 pCi/l (3/29/11)
Helena, Mont. - 0.18 pCi/l (3/28/11)
Waretown, NJ - 0.38 pCi/l (3/28/11)
Cincinnati, Oh. - 0.13 pCi/l (3/28/11)
Pittsburgh, Penn. - 0.36 pCi/l (3/28/11)
Oak Ridge (371), Tenn. - 0.63 pCi/l (3/28/11)
Chattanooga, Tenn. - 1.6 pCi/l (3/28/11)
Boise, Id. - 0.2 pCi/l (3/28/11)
Richland, Wash. - 0.23 pCi/l (3/28/11)

Again, these figures do not include the other radioactive elements being spread by Fukushima, so there is no telling what the actual cumulative radiation levels really were in these samples. The figures were also taken two weeks ago, and were only just recently reported. If current samples were taken at even more cities, and if the tests conducted included the many other radioactive elements besides Iodine-131, actual contamination levels would likely be frighteningly higher.

Exposure to the chemical BPA very early in life might make it hard to get pregnant later on.

- BPA exposure could make pregnancy later in life more difficult.
- In mice, BPA affected fertility at levels equivalent to what people are normally exposed to and also at much tinier doses.
- Regulators need to recognize that hormones and hormone-like chemicals have different effects at different doses.

Even as women choose to have babies later in life, more are having trouble conceiving, and the chemical BPA might be partly to blame, suggests a new study.

Mice that were exposed to tiny amounts of the common chemical in the womb and shortly after birth had no problems getting pregnant early in their reproductive lives, the study found. But the animals were less likely to get pregnant as they aged compared to animals that had not been exposed to BPA, and they gave birth to smaller litters as time wore on.

People come in contact with BPA, also known as bisphenol A, through cash register receipts, canned foods and beverages, hard plastic bottles, kitchenware, DVDs and many other sources. Just about all of us have BPA in our bodies, where it can interfere with the action of estrogen and other hormones.

That process, accumulating evidence suggests, might lead to all sorts of negative health consequences, including some cancers, behavioral issues, and developmental problems.

Previous studies have looked for links between BPA and fertility, but those studies have only asked whether young animals might have trouble getting pregnant on the first try after being exposed to the chemical, said Ana Soto, an endocrinologist and developmental biologist at Tufts University in Boston.

- Scientists don’t yet know what the health risks are, but pregnant women might want to exercise caution.

A large number of common drugs and supplements contain chemicals called phthalates, which are often found in plastics, found a new study. These chemicals have been linked to a variety of hormonal and reproductive problems in both rats and people.

Scientists can't yet say how levels of phthalates in pills might translate into health risks. But for now, pregnant women and children might want to be cautious, said scientists behind the work, especially those who take regular doses of medicine for chronic conditions.

It may be impossible to completely avoid phthalates in medicines, though, because not all phthalate-containing drugs mention inactive ingredients on their packaging. And researchers don't want people to stop taking the pills they need.

Instead, the new work points to the need for both further research and possible action by regulating agencies.

Parents can pinpoint and minimize routes of exposure to reduce levels of this potentially harmful chemical.

- BPA showed up in every urine sample taken from more than 80 preschoolers in two states.
- Food is the primary source of exposure to the chemical for little kids.
- Eliminating BPA-lined canned foods and polycarbonate plastics can go a long way toward buffering kids from BPA.

The worrisome, hormone-disrupting chemical BPA showed up in every urine sample taken from more than 80 preschoolers in two states, reported a recent study of kids, ages 2 through 5.

And even though BPA often appears in samples of dust, air and surfaces of objects, the new study found that most of the BPA that got into the little kids came from their food.

The researchers weren't able to determine which foods delivered the largest doses of BPA. But the chemical often appears in the linings of cans and in hard, clear polycarbonate plastic containers. Recent studies have also documented the migration of the chemical from packaging into foods.

Levels of BPA detected in the kids' urine fell well below declared safe limits. Still, the findings suggest that caregivers could reduce the chemical burden of children they care for by paying more attention to the packaging their food comes in.

British Vitamin Supplement Sales Soar as Consumers Tricked into Toxic Trap

Pin It now!

Supplement sales are soaring in Britain as more and more Brits become savvy to the fact that the nutrient-depleted food supply is simply not sufficient when it comes to obtaining and maintaining optimal health. What many of these Brits do not realize, however, is that not all supplements are of equal value to your body.

In fact, many supplements sold in pharmacies and grocery stores around the globe are loaded with synthetic vitamins, which could actually be wreaking havoc on your biological function. These synthetic formulas are sold in chain stores like Sainsbury’s, where vitamin C sales have increased by 200% in 2 years while multivitamin sales doubled. Of these supplements, many are popular brands loaded with not only lab-made vitamins, but toxic fillers as well.

Are you buying toxic supplements?

Brands like the super-popular Flinstones Complete vitamins fall into this category, containing toxic ingredients such as:

Sorbitol: a synthetic sweetener which has been linked to gastrointestinal distress and more severe disorders when administered in higher concentrations.

Vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol acetate): a petrochemically derived analogue of natural vitamin E which may act as an endocrine disruptor and interfere with the heart protective natural vitamin E isomer gamma tocopherol.

Million to one apple is half red, half green

Pin It now!

Fruit grower Ken Morrish was left stunned when he found a golden delicious apple on his tree split exactly half green, half red down the middle.

The fruit's striking colouring is thought to be caused by a random genetic mutation at odds of more than a million to one.

The apple has caused such a stir in the village of Colaton Raleigh, Devon, that Mr Morrish is inundated with neighbours queuing up to take pictures of it.

Mr Morrish, 72, who has been harvesting the apples from trees in his garden for 45 years, said: "It's truly amazing.

"It looks as if a green apple and a red apple has been cut in half and stuck together."

He said that he was out picking a few apples for his sister-in-law when he spotted the fruit hanging from a bough.

Mr Morrish, a retired painter and decorator, added: "I couldn't believe my eyes. The red and green split through the stem is totally perfect – as if I've painted it.

Frito-Lay sued for labeling its GMO-filled snacks as “All Natural”

Pin It now!

Less than a year after Frito-Lay announced plans to make half their products without “any artificial or synthetic ingredients,” the $13 billion company was sued last week in federal court for fraudulently marketing the snacks that contain genetically modified ingredients.

Somehow, “artificial” and “synthetic” doesn’t include “genetically modified” in Frito’s mind.

In its April 2011 “Seed-to-Shelf” disclosure campaign, Frito-Lay promised to inform consumers about each individual snack’s ingredients, even setting up an app for smartphone users to swipe the product’s barcode and read about it. Ann Mukherjee, Frito-Lay’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, gushed:

“What better way to share the story behind Frito-Lay snacks than by giving consumers a look inside our Flavor Kitchen to see first-hand the all natural ingredients and real foods that inspire the products we make?”

Real foods? All natural? Even Monsanto defines genetically modified organisms as unnatural, which the lawsuit quoted: “Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) – Plants or animals that have had their genetic makeup altered to exhibit traits that are not naturally theirs.”

The World Health Organization agrees, defining GMOs as “organisms in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally.”

The lawsuit names only one plaintiff, Julie Gengo of Richmond, California, but includes all those who purchased Frito’s products which bear the “ALL NATURAL” label. Last August, the law firm Milberg LLP invited potential litigants to contact them.

Flame retardant chemical found in US soft drinks

Pin It now!

A substance patented as a flame retardant and banned as a food ingredient throughout Europe and in Japan is present in 10% of all soft drinks in the US. The December 12, 2011 issue of Environmental Health News reviews the history of this toxic ingredient, including the fact that "extreme soda binges - not too far from what many video gamers regularly consume" have resulted in skin lesions, memory loss and nerve disorders.

Fruit-flavored flame retardant

Mountain Dew, Fanta Orange, Squirt, some flavors of Gatorade and Powerade, as well as other fruit-flavored beverages contain brominated vegetable oil (BVO). On the Nutrition Connection page of its website, the Coca-Cola Company, which manufactures Fanta, defines BVO's as "stabilizers to prevent the citrus flavoring oils from floating to the surface in beverages." In other words, as Environmental Health News explains, BVO weighs down the citrus flavoring so that it mixes with the other soda ingredients, just as flame retardants slow down the chemical reactions which can cause fires.

FDA says safe?

Brominated vegetable oil is derived from soybean or corn and contains bromine atoms. BVO was removed from the FDA's "Generally Recognized as Safe List" for flavor additives in 1970. The Flavor Extract Manufacturers' Association subsequently petitioned to get BVO re-approved, this time as a stabilizer rather than a flavor additive. Following the submission of industry-generated studies showing that BVO was harmless when present in soft drinks within "safe limits." The FDA in 1977 granted "interim approval" for use of the substance, limiting it to 15 parts per million. That interim has so far lasted 30 years. The Environmental Health News article quotes an FDA spokesperson as saying that re-examining the status of BVO "is not a public health priority for the agency at this time."

End of the World: 10 Disasters that could end it all at any given second

Pin It now!

10. Ecosystem Collapse

Our biodiversity is vanishing. At least 30,000 new species become extinct each year, a higher rate than ever before in history. Every single organism on the planet is integrally intertwined with the life of others. To make our life easier in the here and now we are slashing and burning forests, slaughtering animals, transporting organisms from their original ecosystem to others, and introducing synthetic materials into the environment, just to name a few. We are already upsetting the checks and balances of the global ecosystem but have not yet seen a devastating consequence such as the extinction of pollinating insects leading to widespread crop failure and the eventual starvation of humans. Ecologist use the imagery of a "marginal tree," that once cut will throw our planet into chaos to explain the unpredictability of a cataclysmic ecological collapse.

9. Global War

Although, tensions between world groups wax and wane causing the public to frequently go from worrying about a global war to forgetting about it, global war is a constant threat. It is believed that there are at least 20,000 active nuclear weapons in the world. A malicious use of these weapons or even an accidental nuclear exchange or misfire could be disastrous for the planet. Even more worrisome should be the treat of biological warfare. Using killer germs is cheap, they are also easy to produce and conceal. Even scarier, they can become impossible to control.

8. Aliens Attack The Earth

The chance of encountering intelligent extraterrestrial life becomes greater every day. As of January 8, 2008, 217 planets have been discovered outside of our solar system and 2-3 new ones are found each month. Famous astronomer Carl Sagan believed there to be billions upon billions of planets in the universe. With such high numbers it is hard, if not impossible, to believe that there is no intelligent life in the universe besides human and that an alien invasion and destruction of Earth is impossible. It is theorized that it would not be a conflict between humans and aliens that would cause lead to our end but that the aliens would exploit Earth for her resources or merely disrupt the planet by mistake.

What's really in the food? The A to Z of the food industry's most evil ingredients

Pin It now!

Ever wonder what's really in the food sold at grocery stores around the world? People keep asking me, "What ingredients should I avoid?" So I put together a short list that covers all the most toxic and disease-promoting ingredients in the food supply. These are the substances causing cancer, diabetes, heart disease and leading to tens of billions of dollars in unnecessary health care costs across America (and around the world).

If you want to stay healthy and out of the hospital, read ingredients labels and make sure you avoid all these ingredients:

Acrylamides - Toxic, cancer-causing chemicals formed in foods when carbohydrates are exposed to high heat (baking, frying, grilling). They're present in everything from bread crusts to snack chips, and because they aren't intentional ingredients, acrylamides do NOT have to be listed on labels.

Aspartame - Chemical sweetener that causes neurological disorders, seizures, blurred vision and migraine headaches.

Autolyzed Proteins - Highly processed form of protein containing free glutamate and used to mimic the taste-enhancer chemical MSG.

BPA (Bisphenol-A) - A hormone mimicking chemical found in nearly all food packaging plastics. Active in just parts per billion, BPA promotes cancer, infertility and hormone disorders. It also "feminizes" males, promoting male breast growth and hormone disruption

Casein - Milk proteins. Hilariously, this is widely used in "soy cheese" products that claim to be alternatives to cow's milk. Nearly all of them are made with cow's milk proteins.

Corn Syrup - Just another name for High Fructose Corn Syrup (see below). Frequently used in infant formula products

Why is Coca-Cola Unhealthy?

Pin It now!

Although the exact makeup of Coca-Cola remains a secret recipe, there are many things that are widely known to go into the product that account for its nutritional value.

The ingredients found on most Coca-Cola product labels include carbonated water, high-fructose corn syrup, caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural flavors and caffeine that make up all of the calories, sodium, sugar and carbohydrates in the drink. Aspartame, potassium benzoate and citric acid are added to diet flavors.

Coca-Cola has been deemed unhealthy for a number of reasons. One can of Coke can contain about 10 percent sugar. Large amounts of sugar in a person's diet are related to high stress levels, and while it doesn't directly cause diabetes, it can worsen a diabetic's situation. Sugar also contributes to weakening immune systems because yeast and bacteria in the body feed on sugar. It can even speed the aging process when it becomes attached to proteins, which causes a loss in elasticity. In diet drinks, the sugar is substituted with saccharin (or aspartame) to provide a sweetener, and has been researched as a possible cause of bladder cancer.

There are also a small percentage of people who cannot physically metabolize the amino acid in aspartame, causing it to build up in the bloodstream. High-fructose corn syrup is metabolized differently in the human body than natural sugars because the corn syrup is a product of genetically altered plants. Nutritionists have scrutinized connections between obesity, diabetes and high-fructose corn syrup. The potassium benzoate used in Coke products harms DNA in mitochondria of cells in the body, inactivating their ability to produce energy. Another health issue is that the recurrent exposure of the acid added to Coca-Cola contributes to the probability of tooth decay because of its reaction with calcium in teeth. The phosphoric acid is dangerous for those with a pre-existing stomach ulcer. Coca-Cola is also known to be a highly caffeinated beverage, and substantial caffeine intake acts as a diuretic and has negative effects, including hyperactivity.

Coca-Cola can be used in moderation to help in certain medical situations, such as upset stomachs, re-hydration and to unclog medicinal feeding lines. The acid in the drink can be used to alleviate wasp stings; the sweetness assists in attracting rats and, if ingested, will eventually cause them to explode from not being able to eject the gas built up from the bubbles. Coke is also used as an oil stain remover and to wash away blood from roadside accidents.

Cesium found in milk powder made by Japan's Meiji

Pin It now!

Japan's Meiji Holdings said on Dec. 6 that radioactive cesium was found in infant milk powder made by the food and dairy firm, in the latest food scare to grip the country nearly nine months after the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

Shares of Meiji plunged nearly 10 percent to their lowest close since May 2009 following the news. Meiji said it was recalling 400,000 cans of the infant formula, which is sold only in Japan.

Worries over the safety of food supplies have shaken the public after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami crippled the Fukushima Daiichi plant in the worst nuclear accident in 25 years, spreading radiation over a large swathe of northern and eastern Japan.

Cases of excessive radiation in vegetables, tea, milk, seafood and water have stoked anxiety despite assurance from public officials that the levels detected are not dangerous.

Meiji said it is unsure exactly how the cesium got into the powdered milk, but it suspects radioactive substances emitted from the Fukushima accident may have been the source. A company spokesman told Reuters hot air used in the drying process may have contained cesium.

Latest EPA Study: Ground Water Contamination “Consistent With” Fracking

Pin It now!

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a draft analysis Dec. 8 of data of its investigation of groundwater quality in the gas fields of Pavillion, Wyo.

“The draft report indicates that ground water in the aquifer contains compounds likely associated with gas production practices, including hydraulic fracturing,” reads the agency’s media release.

The investigation in Pavillion, where natural gas has been produced since 1960 and Encana Oil and Gas conducted hydraulic fracturing while developing new wells between 2004 to 2007, has been seen as an important test of the gas industry’s assertions that there has never been an incident in which groundwater was contaminated by hydraulic fracturing.

EPA began investigating water quality concerns in Pavillion private drinking water wells three years ago at the request of residents.

Its draft report discusses two sets of monitoring data.

One set, from two deep water monitoring wells constructed in the aquifer by the agency, found synthetic chemicals, including glycols and alcohols, that are “consistent with” gas production and hydraulic fracturing fluids; benzene concentrations well above Safe Drinking Water Act standards; and high methane levels. The agency expressed concern about the movement of contaminants within the aquifer and the safety of drinking water wells over time.

3G Smart Phones Cause Cancer

Pin It now!

Iphone and Blackberry mobile phones cause cancer, and the reason is due to the Iphone and Blackberry cell phone SAR radiation ratings.

SAR Stands for : Specific Absorption Rate, which is a measurement of RF energy absorbed by the body when using a mobile phone.

Most phones average SAR around 0.8. However newer smart phones use more powerful frequencies to transmit due to more Internet requirements. Of concern is the Iphone 3g which has a higher SAR rating around 1.18 and most new Blackberry models like the curve and Bold about 1.5

So the higher the SAR rating of your phone, combined with the longer you use it, increases your exposure and thus increases your cancer risk from dangerous RF energy.

New reports say that infact RF energy from cell phones doubles the risk of brain cancer . As it takes up to 10-15 years to develop these brain cancers, its only now people are seeing the effects and for the younger generation sadly the worst is yet to come..

Mobile Phone and Human Brain:

A mobile phone has one or more aerials of a specific length which, like a tuning fork, will be matched to the frequency of the signal being transmitted.[link to]

The neurons in the brain are connected by axons. Just like the wiring behind your dashboard, these brain wires can be any length, from less than one millimetre to up to a metre.[link to]

There are billions of these tiny connections in your brain and down your spine. Like the mobile aerials, some will be stimulated by your phone's radiation signal while others may not react at all.

These axons connect the neurons which "rest at" and can "fire" -70mV pulses up to one thousand times a second. Think of these as tiny capacitors charging and discharging. Our brains operate along a networked system of fired pulses not unlike a computer data bus.[link to]

Instead of running as far away from a nuclear plant, crocodiles seem to feel well in the cooling channels of the atomic complex.

American biologists have identified nearly 400 reptiles, 5 meters long in adults and a ton heavy, only to chicken out of eggs.

Experts believe that hot water seize animals removed from the reactor, after being purified.

Even so, most creatures would avoid those channels.Crocodiles, however, that the disappearance of dinosaurs survived after all, do not seem at all bothered by nearby nuclear power plant.

Find out which catastrophes were the most destructive in history

Pin It now!

Between the horrific impact on marine life, the threat to a fragile ecosystem and the contamination of miles of coastline, it’s hard to say what the worst aspect of the recent BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is. Perhaps it’s the fact that the disaster was preventable. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time miscalculations, poor judgment or other variations of human error have been to blame for major environmental catastrophes. From honest mistakes to blatant disregard for the consequences, read on for 10 terrifying examples of the damage people are capable of causing.

Gulf of Mexico Dead Zone—Ongoing

Unfortunately, the Gulf of Mexico has experienced a disproportionate amount of ecological trauma. In addition to the recent BP oil spill, a 6,000-square-foot area of the Gulf is classified as a “dead zone,” which means that it is so low in oxygen that it can’t support sea life. To blame are fertilizers, pesticides and nitrogen-rich livestock waste that have seeped into the water from farms along the Mississipi River. Researchers suggest that this year’s oil spill could aggravate the already troubled area by restricting the natural oxygenation of the water and fueling the growth of algae that promotes dead zone climates.

North Korea may soon be able to strike USA with ultimate doomsday weapon that deactivates (nearly) all electronics

Pin It now!

Obama administration officials have released new intelligence indicating North Korea is building mobile ICBMs that will soon be able to reach the United States. This was reported in the Washington Times, which states, "New intelligence indicates that North Korea is moving ahead with building its first road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile, an easily hidden weapon capable of hitting the United States." (

ICBMs typically carry nuclear warheads, and they can easily target cities on the West Coast such as Los Angeles or Seattle. But even this threat doesn't compare to the "doomsday weapon" that China or Russia could almost certainly launch right now: A high-altitude EMP weapon (HEMP for short, and I'm not joking).

High-Altitude EMP could fry the USA back into the pre-industrial age

HEMP weapons are detonated in the high atmosphere, theoretically as high as 300 miles above the ground (well above the orbits of most satellites, even). Once detonated, the energy released by these weapons interacts with the Earth's magnetic field, producing an extremely fast and powerful electromagnetic burst that rushes to the ground at 94% the speed of light, slamming everything on the ground with as much as 50,000 volts per square meter at high amps.

Not surprisingly, such a phenomenon would fry virtually every piece of electronics they touch, as today's electronics are manufactured with delicate circuitry that simply cannot withstand such extreme voltage ranges.

Instantly taken out of service would be many automobiles, televisions, cell phones, air conditioners, airplanes, radios, military electronics, and many satellites. Even more worryingly, such an attack would also take out the backup generators and control electronics for active nuclear power plants, which as we've already reported here on NaturalNews, could unleash a wave of nuclear meltdowns across the USA. What the Pharmaceutical Industry Does NOT Want You to Know About Healing

Pin It now!

Western medicine has made numerous advances in healthcare – especially in areas such as diagnosis, trauma care and surgery. At the same time, there are many other areas where it is limited to simply treating illness with drugs. These medications can be very effective . . . though sometimes they cause more problems than they resolve. In fact, prescription drugs claim over 750,000 lives every year. (1) This does not even include all the negative but non-lethal side-effects.

Drug commercials list potential side-effects by the dozen in an effort to stem legal responsibility. Yet these same advertisements brainwash many people into believing that drugs are the absolute best approach to treating illness. The pharmaceutical industry, which reaps over $600 billion in annual revenues worldwide, propagates this belief with a vast marketing machine. (2) As a result, the general public is woefully unaware of the bigger picture….

Science is now beginning to recognize that living things are not just structures made of molecules; they are composed of a vibrating energy field that exchanges information within and around the body. This field regulates all biological functions and is what defines “life.” When the living energy field is harmonized, the entity is healthy. If some aspect is unbalanced, then illness occurs.

The pharmaceutical industry toasts to your ill health

Pin It now!

Your good health translates into zero profit for the pharmaceutical industry. General well-being of the public and cures for disease would mean the collapse of the pharmaceutical industry since they must have illness to have demand for their drugs, in order to exist.
